HANS ROBERTUS
KEYNOTE: INNOVATIVE DESIGN FROM CULTURAL & DISCIPLINARY DIVERSITY AT PHILIPS DESIGN
Hans Robertus described how Philips Design is a design company born within Philips, which counts 500 employees from 30 different nationalities. And because Philips Design has to find a way to understand the needs of people, they have a diversity of cultures and disciplines in their staff - and he talked about how this diversity was leveraged in building radical new designs.
Hans Robertus is Senior Studio Director at Philips Design and will talk about how Philips Design is making use of a high degree of cultural and disciplinary diversity in their approach to design
Hans Robertus graduated in 1978 at the Academy of Industrial Design Eindhoven, and after one year working for a small design consultancy firm he joined the design-team of Océ in Venlo. In 1991 he made the switch to Philips Corporate Design to start in the area of Professional Broadcasting products. For a large number of years Hans Robertus was, in his role of Senior Studio Director, responsible for the product- and communication design teams in Eindhoven.
At this moment Hans Robertus is setting up a so called Creative Transformation Lab; which is a Philips Design initiative based on value network creation in an open innovation environment. Next to that he is the Creative Director of the Creative Conversion Factory; a technology led initiative focusing on creating business in an open innovation environment.
Hans represents Philips Design in the Design Platform Eindhoven and in Brainport. Brainport, being a governmental organization, promotes Technology and Design in the Eindhoven, Leuven and Aachen triangle in the Netherlands.
