DIVERSITY IN TEAMS => 3,7% HIGHER PROFIL
March 2011: Susanne Justesen from INNOVERSITY COPENHAGEN has - together with PWC - conducted a study of diversity in teams at the service organisation ISS, where it was found that diverse teams had a 3,7% higher profit margin than homogenous teams within ISS. The study looked at the performance of a almost 500 teams, with 120 of these qualifying as being diversity (max 70% from same gender, generation or etnicity). JUSTESEN SPEAKS AT INTERESTING FACHFORUM IN BERLIN
April 2010: Susanne Justesen was invited to speak at this highly interesting conference about gender and diversity in innovation processes in Berlin on April 13th. The conference - or Fachforum - was organised by the German Organisation EAF (Europäische Akademie für Frauen in Politik und Wirtschaft), and was centered around a highly relevant research project they have been conducting at EAF about diversity in innovation processes in five major multinational organisations (Deutche Telekom, Porsche, Daimler, Bosch and IBM), in order to understand the role of diversity in their innovation processes. The findings have yet to be published, and we were promised by the project leader, Ms. Bessing, that they would be publishing the results in English by the end of the year. INNOVATION HAS TO HURT (in Danish)
November 2009: Susanne Justesen was interviewed for this article in the Danish business magazine Mandag Morgen, about the role of collaboration in innovation. In the interview Susanne elaborates on the fact that Danish companies seem very good at instigating cross-organisational collaboration, but not very good at benefitting from such collaboration due to too much consensus-seeking.
JUSTESEN PART OF AER INNOVATION AWARD JURY
October 2009
- Association of European Regions (AER) has again this year invited Susanne Justesen to be part of the AER Innovation Award Jury. The jury just met in Brussels on October 9th to decide which European region should be awarded the annual AER innovation award. The award will be presented in Basel on October 27th 2009. Besides Susanne Justesen, the jury consists of Professor Peter Heydebrick (Inno-group, DE), Secretary General Klaus Klipp (AER), and Dr. Joachim Hafkesbrink (InnoWise, DE).
JUSTESEN NOMINATED EXPERT FOR EESC STUDY GROUP
April 2009 - Susanne Justesen has been nominated as an expert for an EESC study group in Brussels, working on an opion paper to be presented to the Commission, the Council and the European Parliament later this year. The group is working on recommendations regarding how to strengthen the role of European Universities in improving overall research and higher education in Europe.
MINI-BOOK ABOUT HOW TO INNOVATE WITH DIVERSITY
January 2009 - Susanne Justesen and Trine Bang are right now working on a new book from INNOVERSITY Research. The book is a case-based aiming to help innovation leaders leverage diversity for innovation, by learning from the unique experiences from studying the innovation of the 1st generation of bioethanol at Novozymes. We expect the book to be available in the early summer of 2009

May 2008 - Justesen participates in panel discussion in EU Parliament to celebrate the 50 year anniversary of the EESC (European Economic and Social Committee). Susanne Justesen is a bit overwhelmed by the prospect of facing the many Anniversary guest of the EU Parliament. The EESC were expecting app 2.500 guests for the 50 year Anniversary event - and the panel debate!
SUSANNE JUSTESEN IN AER INNOVATION AWARD JURY
May 2008 - Association of European Regions (AER) has invited Susanne Justesen to be part of the AER Innovation Award Jury. Every year the AER Jury hands out an innovation award to the most innovative European Region. Besides Susanne Justesen, the jury consists of Professor Peter Heydebrick and Klaus Klipp.

The Assembly of European Regions (AER) celebrates innovation in Europe by issuing an innovation award to the most innovative region in Europe with the AER Innovation Award.

This Prize aims at honouring European regions that have stimulated, fostered and implemented innovation in their territory. The award will officially be handed to the winning region at the AER General Assembly in Tampere, Finland in November 2008.

Ph.D. innovation advisor Susanne Justesen of INNOVERSITY COPENHAGEN is a member of the AER Innovation Award Jury together with the Secretary General of the AER, Klaus Klipp, and Professor Peter Heydebreck, founding partner and Managing Director of the innogroup AG in Karlsruhe.


SUSANNE JUSTESEN IN INNOVATION-PANEL IN ITALY
February 2008 - At this huge innovation conference in Friuli Venezia-Giulia in Italy with more than 45.000 visitors this year, Justesen gave a talk about innovation and diversity, and participated in a fascinating panel discussion about improving the quality of life together with big-shots Hugh Herr (MIT), Robert Cailliau (STERN), Neil Gershenfeld.
InnovAction is a huge innovation conference in Udine Italy, which this year bosted more than 45.000 visitors. Justesen participated in a panel discussion about how innovation can improve the quality of life.

SUSANNE JUSTESEN KEYNOTES AT AER GENERAL ASSEMBLY
November 2007: Susanne Justesen, INNOVERSITY was invited to keynote at the General Assembly of the Association of European Regions in Udine, Italy on November 8th. The title of the AER keynote was "Diversity as a building block for innovation in Europe". Other keynote speakers at General Assembly includes José Manuel Barroso, President of the EU Commission. SUSANNE JUSTESEN AWARDED HER PH.D. DEGREE
September 2007 - Susanne handed in her Ph.D. dissertation earlier this year, and on Sept 25 she defended her dissertation in front of the ph.d. committee - consisting of Professor John Christiansen (DK), Lotte Darsø from Learning Lab Denmark (DK), and Etienne Wenger (US).



SUSANNE JUSTESEN HANDS IN HER PH.D. DISSERTATION
February 2007 - Susanne handed in her dissertation entitled "Navigating the paradoxes of diversity in innovation processes in practice - A longitudinal study of six very different innovation groups".

At the General Assembly of the AER (Assocation of European Regions), Susanne Justesen was delivering a keynote speech with the title "Diversity as a building block for Europe".
Susanne Justesen from INNOVERSITY COPENHAGEN initiated her Ph.D. studies with Copenhagen Business School in February 2004, and now - exactly three years later - she hands in her Ph.D. dissertation.
Finally done! After three years of incredibly hard work - a proud and exhausted Susanne Justesen re-emerges form her Ph.D. cave (no one had seen her for almost 6 months) holding the finalized Ph.D. dissertation. This picture is taken minutes before handing in the dissertation to the Ph.D. Committee.

The Ph.D. Dissertation is entitled: "Navigating the paradoxes of diversity in innovation processes - in practice. A longitudinal study of six very different innovation groups".

FASCINATING WORKSHOP ON DIVERSITY DYNAMICS
July 2004 - Susanne Justesen was priveleged to participate and do a presentation in this workshop in Bologna, Italy. The conference was framed within the discipline of complexity theory, and the diversity present at the workshop was interesting in and off itself: Biologists, economists, social scientists, geologists, physicists etc.


INNOVERSITY NETWORK MEETUP, COPENHAGEN, MAY 4T 04
April 2004 - This Innoversity Network meeting was held in the Studio of DFAB, and hosted by designer Karsten Lülloff and photographer Mikkel Molin, who told os about how they make use of diversity in designing and developing their innovative products. A highly interesting aproach to innovation, which we all enjoyed learning from.

RESEARCH PROJECT ON INNOVATION AND DIVERSITY
March 2004 - Susanne Justesen from Innoversity Network has now entered into a three year research project with Copenhagen Business School. Susanne will be studying the role of diversity in innovation, with a strong emphasis on interorganisational networks and Communities of Practice in the partnering companies. The research partners in the project are LEGO Company, DR - The Danish Broadcasting Corporation, ARLA Foods, Nycomed, LEO Pharma, Jyske Bank and Novozymes.


INNOVATION IN THE ORESUND REGION, COPENHAGEN
27th February 2004 - This special meeting between a small group (10 people) of innovation specialist in Copenhagen, was hosted by Innoversity Network. The purpose of the meeting was to come up with a set of ideas to revitalize the Oresund region, which seems to hold such a huge potential - but never really seems to be kicking off.

GREAT NEW TOOL: "INNOVERSITY DIAGNOSIS"
July 2003 - Innoversity Copenhagen is proud to introduce this new and very powerful analysis tool. In using this tool with our client organisations, we are able to identify homogenious warning zones, innovation barriers (caused by diversity), innovation potentials etc - aiding the overall ability to tap into diversity for innovative purposes.


INNOVERSITY COPENHAGEN IN LONDON
June 2003 - Innoversity Consulting had the very first assignment in London in the beginning of June, and had a chance of connecting with a few Innoversity Network members on that occasion! Innoversity Consulting is therefore now teaming up with Patrick Dunn in London to develop a framework for working with Virtual Innoversity (how to tap into aspects of diversity otherwise not available by building virtual innovation communities). So expect to learn more about that soon!

KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT EVENT IN INNOVERSITY NETWORK
May 2003 - On May 21st Dr. Madanmohan Rao updated members of Innoversity Network about Knowledge Management. Madan recently issued his new book on Knowledge Management, and is in Denmark for a short visit on this very day. His talk will present KM practices from more than 15 of the most celebrated IT companies from the US, Europe and Asia. After Madan's presentation we discussed our most important challenges in relation to Knowledge Management. INNOVERSITY FORMS ALLIANCE WITH CREATIVITY DAY
April 2003 - This organisation works to promote the existence of creativity day on April 21st every year, together with the notion of an innovation week! Innoversity Consulting and Susanne Justesen are now the Danish representative of this worldspanning organisation.


"IDEA EXCHANGE DINNER" IN INNOVERSITY NETWORK
February 2003 - We were very happy to see 22 members of the Innoversity Network show up for our Idea Exchange Dinner on February 6th at Kavva in Copenhagen. The meeting was organised in cooperation with Copenhagen Institute for Future Studies, and arranged for members to exchange ideas with eachother on matters of interest to each of them. After the Idea Exchange we had dinner, and people stayed around even after the dinner; and Kavva made sure that we had a great evening.

INNOVERSITY FEATURED IN DANISH RADIO PROGRAMME
December 2002 - Susanne Justesen appeared in the Danish National DR Radio programme 'Frekvens' on P1, in which she describes what it means to build your business as an entreprenuer based on an idea, i.e. the idea of innoversity. Other profiles in the programme are the Danish writer Tor Nørretranders and Innovation researcher Henrik Herlau.


INNOVERSITY OPENS NEW OFFICES IN NEW YORK
October 2002 - By mid December, Susanne Justesen will be moving to New York to be able to kick off the first projects in New York in the new year. INNOVERSITY IN NEW YORK IN SEPTEMBER
September 2002 - Susanne Justesen, Innoversity.dk was in New York once more in the attempt to build a business case for innoversity in the New York area. Most of the stay focused on further developing the business plan with a new NY partner.


EVALUATION OF INNOVERSITY WORKSHOP
July 2002 - A dissertation is currently being worked on based on the participation in and the evaluation of a workshop held by Innoversity.dk - together with actress Roxana Kia - in June in Copenhagen. We look very much forward to learning from the work done by Camilla Mortensen on the workshop.


INNOVERSITY REPRESENTED AT CONFERENCE IN PORTUGAL
June 2002 - Susanne Justesen from Innoversity.dk partipated in a 5 day long Dialogue with experts in the field of Communities of Practice in Setúbal, Portugal. After the Dialogue days, a Round Table was held where Susanne presented a paper to a wider audience.


DIVERSITY IS NOT DANGEROUS, MERELY INSPIRING (IN DANISH)
April 2002 BizReport - This article by Susanne Justesen from Innoversity.dk exhibits a warning against similarity and closure in Danish Business life. Recruiting for executive boards, top management positions and employees alike seems to focus too much on similarity and too little on diversity. And we need a major shift in Denmark in this regard if we do not want to fall behind when it comes to innovation and new thinking. 'Cause if we all look alike - who do we expect to come up with new ideas??

INNOVATION & INNOVERSITY CONFERENCE CANCELLED
April 2002 - It was with great regret and sorrow that we have had to cancel the very first Innovation & Innoversity Conference to be held in Copenhagen, Denmark in April 2002. We simply had too few participants - But Innoversity.dk hopes to be able to realaunch another conference next year.


INNOVERSITY PARTNERING ON ON DIVERSITY CONFERENCE
March 2002 - Innoversity.dk participated and co-arranged a large conference in Denmark on March 18th with approximately 1000 participants. Innoversity.dk did a workshop aswell as being present in the exibition area with material, posters and inspiration. The Innoversity.dk team did a very good job in spreading the innoversity virus. WHY INNOVATION IS A BETTER INCENTIVE (IN DANISH)
March 2002 in Information (a Danish Newspaper): This article describes the conference about diversity which was co-organised by innoversity.dk. In the article Susanne Justesen, Innoversity.dk explains why assimilation may be the result of a too narrowminded social responsibility strategy, and how innovation as a motivation for diversity seems to offer better incentives for a better overall integration.


INNOVERSITY MOVES INTO UNITED SPACES COPENHAGEN
March 2002 - Innoversity.dk is now a member of United Spaces Copenhagen, which is a flexible and efficient office solution based upon networking, knowledge sharing and creativity - - a network office. We are currently 45 different companies and 90 entrepreneurs in United Spaces Copenhagen - and the decision to move into the office has proved to be a very good one. A range of good and inspring conversations with fellow-enthusiasts have so far stirred up a lot of new ideas for use by both Innoversity.dk and Innoversity Network. LAUNCH OF NEW DANISH PORTAL: JOBSAMTALEN.DK (IN DANISH)
March 2002 - The portal which was launched on March 4 was the result of an almost one-year long project directed by Susanne Justesen, Innoversity.dk. The project focused on getting diversity into the workplace by focusing on the job interview as a door opener. The information presented at Jobsamtalen.dk is based on app. 30 interviews with both recruiters and applicants, who shared their experiences about barriers and pitfalls in the job interview and give their advide as to how these barriers can be minimised, thereby allowing for an increased diversity in Danish organisations. At the launch reception, which was held togther with the jobportal: omarjob.nu on March 4 , almost 200 people showed, including two Danish Ministers. It was a happy and none the least important day to Innoversity.dk


INNOVERSITY.DK CONSIDERS OPENING OFFICES IN NEW YORK
January 2002 - A lot of networking and searching is currently taking place in order to examine the possibilities of Innoversity.dk venturing into the New York Area. Nothing has yet been decided upon, but the ambition is to be able to launch the first Innoversity initiatives in New York by the end of 2002. A PRELIMINARY STUDY ON INNOVERSITYGROUPS™
October 2001 - Together with Tine Lindhard Innoversity.dk did the very first in a serious of studies on the new concept which we have labelled an InnoversityGroup™, e.g. a group of highly different people whom, when working together in a specific way is seen to spur creativity, innovation and radical new thinking. The project seems highly promising, but certainly needs to be grounded with several more InnoversityGroups™ in the future.

August 2001 - In this article Susanne Justesen explains her view on diversity and integration, and how Danes should be happy about the diversity instead of complaining. INNOVERSITY DEFINED IN DANISH ENCYCLOPEDIA
July 2001 - Innoversity is pleased to announce that the Innoversity Concept (developed by Susanne Justesen, Innoversity) has been acknowledged in Denmark by being included in the latest edition of the Danish Management Encyclopedia (Børsens Management Leksikon) which was published earlier this month (Link refers to Danish Site)


INNOVERSITY THEORY USED FOR GAME DEVELOPMENT
May 2001 - In a project handed in to Erhvervsakademiet for Informations- og Kommunikationsteknologi, Innoversity Theory is applied in order to describe the dynamics of group processes in project management. It was highly interesting to see how the Innoversity Drivers can be usefull in other theoretical fields aswell, and it was definately inspiring to read the project (app. 68 pages)


INNOVERSITY - PUBLISHED AS A WORKING PAPER
May 2001 - Now you can finally download this Working Paper by Susanne Justesen, about the Innoversity concept and framework. The paper was originally a master thesis in Intercultural Management, but has now been published as a Working Paper by the Department of Management, Politics and Philosophy at Copenhagen Business School. Please beware that the paper has been divided into Part I and Part II, and you should therefore make sure that you download both of them
